Our MIssion
The Madison Players Theatre Troupe is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering high-quality, low-cost (or no-cost) live stage entertainment to local audiences on a semi repertory theatre basis. We create an intimate, welcoming artistic environment by producing scripts and skits that resonate with our community and support meaningful outreach.
We are powered exclusively by local community members, with membership granted on an invitation-only basis. Committed to remaining intentionally small, we practice minimal expansion while building a stable, close-knit foundation.
Embracing minimalism, we strive to work with limited sets, set pieces, props, and wardrobe while upholding the highest standards of production quality. Our extended production runs — spanning months or continuing throughout the calendar year — allow deeper engagement for both performers and audiences.
Rooted in service rather than spectacle, we believe that accessible, relevant theatre strengthens community bonds, nurtures local creativity, and enriches lives without financial barriers. Through every performance, we affirm that great storytelling thrives not through lavish resources or expansion, but through heart, talent, and a genuine connection to the people we serve.
Repertory Theatre
By utilizing a foundation in repertory theatre, we maintain a few skits and scripts, repeating rehearsals over longer periods of time, so that we can “throw together” performances on the fly, for acts-in-residence at local venues or traveling performances for local groups and meetings. Our desire is to bring theatre to audiences that typically would not be inclined to visit large scale performances in order to illuminate the craft to a broader group of people. We do require a two week lead time for final preparation prior to the performance.
Non Profit
We are 100% non-profit. In fact, it is our goal to NEVER have a treasury – we seek small grants to pay licensing fees and venue rentals for performances. Our goal is to not have assets of any kind. All of our performers and administrative personnel are 100% volunteer. Ticket sales for our performances shall be limited to the amounts necessary to pay for licensing fees and venue rentals. No other entity may charge a fee above or beyond the amount needed to recoup costs for our performances.
